Day 8: Ascending Kings Canyon and Arriving in Alice Springs

Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

Our day began with the sun rising over Kings Canyon, a spectacular start with Rockleigh Tours. After a hearty breakfast, we embarked on the famous Rim Walk. This challenging climb, often referred to as "Heart Attack Hill," rewarded us with breathtaking views from the top. The ancient red canyon walls soared over 100 meters above Kings Creek, with rugged sandstone cliffs and lush vegetation framing our path.

The Rim Walk at Kings Canyon is not just a physical journey; it's a trip through time, revealing layers of geological history and offering panoramic views that span the vast expanse of Watarrka National Park. We paused often, not just to catch our breath, but to savor the vistas and capture memories with our cameras.

Post-hike, we journeyed north toward Alice Springs. The drive itself was an integral part of our adventure, providing a transition from the remote ruggedness of Kings Canyon to the bustling heart of the Outback. Upon arrival in Alice Springs, we set up camp at the MacDonnell Ranges Holiday Park, our home for the next two nights.

The evening was capped off with a visit to Anzac Hill as the sun set. This lookout point offered us stunning panoramic views of Alice Springs and its surroundings, a perfect reflection spot to appreciate the day's journey and the vibrant town below.

As we gathered around the campfire tonight, we shared stories of the day's climbs and sights, preparing ourselves for the next day's exploration of Alice Springs.
